Las Vegas is the most famous gambling destination on earth. And in the Vegas world, poker holds a place high on the pedestal. The area sees millions of amateur and pro players sidle up to the felts each year. Of course, if you aren’t in Vegas – or if you can’t regularly make the trip to that shining desert oasis – you’ll probably want to play at Las Vegas online poker rooms instead. But there’s a snag: Despite having legal domestic online poker, Vegas venues require their players to be physically inside the state of Nevada.
Fortunately, if you live outside of NV, you’re not up a river card without a paddle. Legal online Vegas-style poker rooms operating internationally can accept players from all over America. Las Vegas Online Poker Options
Generally, there are three ways to play online poker in Vegas, and the same formats are available at all the top online poker rooms we recommend. Whenever you sign up to play poker online, you’ll be able to choose from the following event categories:
Vegas Online Poker Cash Games
Most Las Vegas poker tables – and thus, most poker tables at online Vegas-style gambling sites – are cash table games. These are available around the clock, and players can join any table that has an empty seat.
Cash games are quick and allow for short gaming sessions, making them the go-to for the majority of online poker players. After all, everyone loves poker, but not everyone has lots of free time to dedicate to the game.
The best Vegas poker sites allow for multi-hand play (aka multi-table play, or “multitabling”), which is an advanced technique used by more seasoned gamblers who want to play as many games as quickly as possible. For beginners, online poker cash tables are where you should cut your eyeteeth when cutting the decks.
Vegas Online Sit-N-Go Poker Tournaments
Sit-N-Go tournaments are available at poker tables in Vegas, and they’re similarly on hand at the top online poker sites operating internationally. Sit-N-Gos are small events with low to medium table stakes, so you can ante up regardless of your skill level or financial risk.
Typical Sit-N-Go events last for 30-60 minutes, with the longest games running to about two hours. To play a Sit-N-Go, you pay a small entry fee and compete for virtual Vegas poker chips. The player with the most chips wins their table and moves to the next table.
Sit-N-Gos are usually comprised of just a few rounds, and whoever wins the most chips at the final table wins the whole pot. Some games also allow runners-up to win smaller amounts of money.
Vegas Online Tournament Poker Events
The main draws for many Vegas poker players are the major poker tournaments Sin City is famous for. Each Vegas casino hotel publishes its own poker tournament schedule, and players enter for a chance to win life-changing pots worth millions of dollars. If you want the biggest payouts when playing in poker tournaments, Las Vegas is the obvious destination.
Of course, you can still play for massive payouts into the six and seven figures at the best online Vegas poker rooms listed here. These tournaments tend to be held weekly, and many can take several days to conclude.
Once you buy your ticket to these online Vegas poker tournaments, you have to win table after table until all the “bracket” winners converge for a final showdown. Payouts are disbursed according to your final position at the end of the event.
Las Vegas Online Poker Games
If you’re used to playing poker games in Vegas, you already know the “Big Three” games: Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha, and Omaha Hi-Lo. These are the popular poker variants that most Vegas casinos offer, and they’re considered to be the standards in gambling districts all across the world.
The top poker sites all use the best online poker simulator software to ensure each game offers real-world odds and gives players legitimate chances to win. There’s no way to cheat, either, which means you can be confident with every check, call, or raise.
The poker rules for each game type are briefly outlined below.
Online Texas Hold ‘Em Poker
Texas Hold ‘Em – aka Hold ‘Em or “holdem” – is the most famous poker game going, and it’s extremely simple: Each player antes up and is then dealt two cards, face down. These are called the “hole cards.”
Players bet again, and the dealer flips three cards onto the table (“the flop”). After another round of betting, the dealer flips the “turn card.” After more bets, the final card – aka the “river card” – is revealed.
Players wager a final time, and the highest hand using any five-card combination wins. Players do not have to use their hole cards in Texas Hold ‘Em.
Online Omaha Poker
Omaha is different from Texas Hold ‘Em in several key ways. The betting rounds work the same way, but players are initially dealt four hole cards instead of just two.
After the flop, the turn, and the river, players must build their best poker hands by using exactly two of their pocket cards and three community cards. The highest hand wins.
Online Omaha Hi-Lo Poker
Omaha Hi-Lo is the best variant for online poker beginners, as there are two winning hands per game. Hi-Lo rules are identical to the Omaha rules listed above, with the exception that the highest hand wins and the lowest hand wins.
Unless otherwise specified, a winning low hand in Omaha Hi-Lo carries a qualifier of “8 or better,” which means all cards used in the low hand must have numerical values of 8 or less. Omaha Hi-Lo is sometimes called “Omaha 8” for this reason.
Las Vegas Online Poker Bonuses
In Vegas, nothing is truly free. Sure, you might get a comped drink or two, some gratis tickets to a show, and even a coupon for a free meal or discounts on lodgings. But in terms of actual cash bonuses just for playing, that’s not a thing.
Online, however, poker bonuses are very much a thing, and the best Internet poker rooms offer them as a matter of course. These come in the form of deposit bonuses, which match a certain percentage of your deposit with free cash.
However, unlike typical bonuses you might find at Vegas online casinos or Vegas online sportsbooks, there are no rollover requirements or playthrough requirements associated with any online poker promotion.
Instead, players earn their bonus money in increments disbursed for every set number of hands they play. Usually, players have 30 days to accrue as much free money as they can (up to the bonus maximum), which means you should always accept these valuable promos.
In addition to online poker bonuses, the best betting sites also have member rewards programs where players earn points while gambling. Different tiers unlock different prizes, including free entries to Sit-N-Go tournaments and even bigger online poker events.
Mobile Poker Apps
Every top-rated Las Vegas poker room online offers mobile-optimized gambling apps for easy, convenient gambling on the go. That said, there are no real-money Vegas iPhone poker apps or Android poker apps available on the App Store or in Google Play.
While you can find free video poker apps on these storefronts, they only let you spend money for more free poker chips and extended play times. You can’t actually win anything. That’s the real Dead Man’s Hand in our book!
For Vegas mobile poker, real-money payouts are a must, and all the top sites we recommend have made their poker rooms available right through their browser-based mobile Vegas gambling portals.
These web apps play exactly like native apps, with all the touchscreen controls, animations, and sounds you expect. Even better, they fit your device perfectly regardless of make, model, or screen size. Plus, mobile Vegas poker isn’t geo-fenced, so you can ante up anywhere in the US, anytime you want!
The best poker room in Vegas isn’t actually in Vegas, it’s online at any of the poker websites listed here!
Of course, if you actually want to experience in-person poker rooms in Las Vegas, that answer won’t satisfy you. In that case, most players prefer to play poker at the Wynn, the Bellagio, and the Venetian.
Ultimately, of course, the best Vegas poker room is the one you like most, and given that each venue has different themes and vibes, every player will have their own preferences.
Yes! Online poker is legal in Las Vegas domestically and internationally.
If you play with a domestic poker room online, however, you have to be inside NV borders and be at least 21 years old.
If you play with a Vegas-style online poker room that operates overseas, you can gamble from anywhere in the USA and only have to be 18 or older to participate.
Unfortunately, no reputable international Vegas poker room offers World Series of Poker qualifiers or branded tournaments.
WSOP events are available in several US gambling districts, with Las Vegas being the primary destination. If you want to gamble online with an aim to earn a place in any WSOP contest, you’ll have to stick with US-based options.
That said, you can always parlay your offshore online poker winnings into a WSOP ticket, as these are available to purchase.
You can play Vegas-style poker apps for free, and these are readily available in the App Store and Google Play store.
However, free plays quickly run out, and to continue playing, you have to wait several hours or buy more coins or virtual poker chips using IAPs or microtransactions.
Since you can only spend real money but can’t win any, this is a one-way street and a very bad beat.
All the best Vegas poker rooms listed here have casino gambling options that include video poker with unlimited “practice” modes, so if you want to play virtual poker online for free, we recommend going this route instead.
Real poker, like the kind available in Vegas poker rooms and online Vegas-style poker sites, pits human players against one another in real-time using virtual poker software that randomizes card draws in a realistic and fair manner.
Video poker, on the other hand, is a single-player casino game where individuals compete against the computer.
Additionally, real poker is typically limited to Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha, and Omaha Hi-Lo, while video poker has a number of different variations and utilizes all kinds of odd rules and wild cards.
If it helps, you can view Vegas video poker as a kind of Vegas online slots experience with interactive elements.
The poker limits in Vegas vary by venue and table, with common betting minimums of $2, $3, and $4. High-stakes tables, of course, have much higher limits.
At domestic Vegas online poker sites, the limits generally mirror those of the physical tables at their operators’ casino properties.

Online at the international gambling sites we recommend, you’ll find lower limits, often in the $0.50 to $1 range. Of course, these sites also offer different tables with different stakes, and the minimum betting limits vary accordingly.
No. When you play online poker in Vegas – whether at a domestic venue or an offshore site – you cannot intentionally play games at the same table with your friends (or play at private tables made up of your acquaintances).
To prevent cheating, no reputable online casino allows for coordinated multiplayer poker.
If you want to play virtual poker with friends, there are free videogame-style apps that allow this, though you can expect to be saddled with IAPs and microtransactions for the privilege.
If you’re gambling online in the privacy of your own home, you are free to disrobe to whatever extent you wish.
We’re not saying we sit around and play Vegas online poker in our underwear, but we’re not not saying that, either.
Online virtual poker is already a reality, as all the best sites – domestic and international alike – use state-of-the-art poker software to shuffle and deal the cards.
Naturally, then, it’s only a matter of time before these sites start using virtual reality software to host their poker games.
While this level of immersion is still a few years away from any mainstream rollout, we expect the best online gambling sites to all embrace VR poker – and VR gambling of all kinds – going forward.
There are new rules and procedures in place, and the temperature outside is about 30 degrees cooler than usual, but the World Series of Poker has officially returned to Las Vegas after a hiatus of more than 800 days.
Poker Online With Friends
It was July of 2019 when Germany’s Hossein Ensan closed out the 50th annual summer series with a $10 million main event win. The 2020 festival promised to be even bigger, but the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to live poker around the world and forced the WSOP online.
In fact, it was only the final tablists of the main event who got to play cards in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino last year, with Argentina’s Damian Salas coming away with a combined $2,550,969 after topping the international online field and domestic winner Joseph Hebert.
Normally held around June and July, the 2021 series was pushed to the fall. A total of 88 events are scheduled to award bracelets between Sept. 30 and Nov. 23.
The WSOP main event will have four starting flights to choose from between Nov. 4-7. The final table is currently slated for Tuesday, Nov.16 and Wednesday, Nov. 17.
“We’ve spent the last 26 months dreaming of the return of the WSOP live and in-person to the Rio, and it feels incredible to say, today is that day,” said Senior Vice President of the World Series of Poker, Ty Stewart.
“There is nothing like the WSOP live with each day making history— from the unforgettable wins to the overwhelming upsets — it’s an unmatched experience. We are incredibly appreciative of those who have traveled near and far to be back in Las Vegas with us, as well as our Team Members and partners considering it takes a huge village to pull this event off.”

Thursday saw the traditional $500 Casino Employees event kick off the series, and although there were the usual lines of players in the Rio hallway, this time the congestion was due to the new vaccine-mandate policy rather than registration delays.
Less than five weeks from the start of the series, tournament organizers surprised many by announcing the mandate for anyone wishing to play. Proof of vaccination, using a mobile health pass app, is required to participate in any bracelet event, deep stack tournament, satellite, or cash game. The policy applies to everyone involved with the event, including staff, media, vendors, and spectators.
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly-it is made with no agenda beyond protecting player eligibility and the operations of a unique televised gaming event,” said Stewart. “The nature of poker is to be in close proximity with your opponents for extended periods of time and a seat at the WSOP is a commitment for both our company and the participants. We want players to be excited for their return to the WSOP, while offering the greatest level of protection and limiting complications during the tournament this fall.”
By complying with Gov. Steve Sisolak’s Emergency Directive 050 for vaccinated events, players will be allowed to take their masks off while they are seated at the tables.

We can only guess as to how the mandate will affect attendance. The numbers were already going to be lower than usual due to the fact that the series is taking place in the fall. Additionally, many international players will still have trouble getting to Las Vegas with various restrictions in place on travel.
According to the CDC, approximately 67% of eligible adult Americans are fully vaccinated and 77% have received at least one dose.
